十代から旅をしてタイで出会った竹笛を森の中で奏で始める。

屋久島で菊地浩亮氏に地無し尺八と篠笛の製作を学ぶ。

博多一朝軒の磯玄明住職から法竹で古典本曲の手解きを受け、海童道曲を石川利光氏に師事する。

ネパールでバーンスリーに出会い、インドではHariprasad Chaurasia氏のレッスンに参加し、帰国後はAmit Roy氏に北インド古典音楽を師事する。

自然と調和する音色を求めて奥山まで竹材を探し求め楽器作りを研究しながら、古典音楽を中心に幅広い演奏をしている。

Fuugaku Matsumoto

I started playing the yokobue flute in the forest after travelling as a teenager and encountering it in Thailand.

 Learnt to make jinashi shakuhachi and shinobue flute from Kousuke Kikuchi in Yakushima.

 Learnt classical honkyoku on hōchiku from master Iso Genmyo at Hakata Icchouken and studied watazumi doukyoku under Toshimitsu Ishikawa.

 Encountered bansuri in Nepal, took lessons with Hariprasad Chaurasia in India, and studied North Indian classical music with Amit Roy after returning to Japan.

 I have been searching for bamboo materials in the mountains for the sound in harmony with nature, and has been researching the making of musical instruments, performing a wide range of classical music.
